Denise

Experience: Denise was a founder member of Harrow Academy UK and is the Senior Teacher.

After working as an interpreter Denise began her EFL career at The Pitman School of English in London.

Following the birth of her two children Denise worked part-time for various organisations and Crest Schools of English, happily combining teaching with motherhood.

Denise  returned to full-time work in 1998 and was the Director of Studies at Harrow International Academy for seven years before helping to found HAUK in 2005.

Home town: Denise has lived in north-west London all her life apart from a year in Switzerland where she studied at the Ecole d’Interpretes in Geneva and worked in a car showroom to help pay her rent!! She was also an au pair with a family in Zurich – a rather miserable experience.

Hobbies: Denise loves gardening, cooking and walking, while she also wishes she had more time to read and paint.

Interesting fact: When Denise was a teenager she accidentally locked herself in the bathroom and had to be rescued by a firefighter who carried her down a ladder into her back garden. The story appeared in the local newspaper.
